The difference between welding neck flange and SOH flange:
1. The welding seam forms are different: the welding seam form between the SOH flange pipe and the flange is a fillet weld, while the welding seam form between the welding neck flange and the pipe is a circumferential weld;
2. Different materials: The material of the SOH flange is machined from ordinary steel plate with the required thickness, while the material of the welding neck flange is mostly machined from forged steel parts;
3. The nominal pressure is different: the nominal pressure of the SOH flange is 0.6-4.0MPa, while the nominal pressure of the welding neck flange is 1-25MPa grade.
4. Another point is that the weld seam connecting the welding neck flange and the connecting pipe belongs to Class B seam, while the weld seam connecting the SOH flange and the connecting pipe belongs to Class C seam. The non-destructive testing after welding is different.
5. SOH flanges and welding neck flanges cannot be easily replaced. From a manufacturing perspective, SOH flanges have a larger inner diameter, which means they are lighter in weight and lower in cost. In addition, welding neck flanges with a nominal diameter greater than 250mm need to be inspected, while SO flanges do not need to be inspected, so the cost is lower.
